Quality Assurance

Zhengzhou Jinyingteng

Carrier tape is a precision product: a pocket that is a few hundredths of a millimetre out of position will stop an SMT feeder, and a burr at the sprocket hole will jam a line. Quality at Jinyingteng is therefore built into the machine, the tooling and the process — not inspected in at the end.

Control Points from Design to Shipment

1. Tooling design and verification

Every project starts with the customer’s tape drawing or component data. Pocket geometry, pitch, die clearance and stripper design are calculated before a chip is cut, and the tooling is verified against the drawing independently of the machine it will run on. Changes requested after approval are documented with a revision number so that two identical tape specifications can never be produced from two different tool sets.

2. Incoming material inspection

Sheet material is checked on receipt for thickness, width, surface quality and — where specified — surface resistivity. PC, PS and PET behave differently in the heating and forming stations, so the material certificate and the batch are recorded against the production order and the forming temperature is set from the material data, not from habit.

3. In-house machining and assembly

Frames, forming modules and dies are machined in-house, which lets us hold tolerances and respond to design changes without waiting on a subcontractor. On our ultra-precision platforms the heating, forming and punching modules are located by guide pins and bushings, so the upper and lower halves close on a single axis; that rigidity is what keeps pocket depth and flatness stable over a full shift rather than only on the first metre of tape.

4. Run-in and factory acceptance testing

Before shipment, every machine is run on material and tape specifications close to the customer’s application. Where the customer supplies material or a sample component, the acceptance run is performed on that material and the tape is measured — sprocket pitch, cumulative error, pocket dimensions, burr condition and peel strength — with the results recorded and issued with the machine.

What We Measure

Dimensional and positional accuracy

Drive hole pitch, cumulative tolerance across consecutive holes, pocket A0/B0/T dimensions, pocket position relative to the sprocket holes, and tape width and camber. Feeding repeat accuracy on our precision platforms is ±0.002 mm, which is what allows cumulative pitch to stay inside the ±0.2 mm window required by EIA-481-D over ten consecutive holes.

Optical and functional checks

Automated optical inspection stations verify pocket presence, contamination, deformation and hole quality at production speed. Peel strength testing confirms that cover tape seals consistently across the tape length, and formed samples are checked for component fit, rotation clearance and removal without mechanical restriction.

Standards and Documentation

Our equipment is designed to meet and exceed EIA-481-D and the equivalent mechanical requirements of IEC 60286-3. Where a customer’s quality system requires evidence, we provide dimensional inspection records, material traceability, a recommended spare parts list and, on request, process capability (CPK) studies for critical characteristics. Documentation is issued in English and can be supplied in the customer’s template where one exists.

Talk to Us About Your Acceptance Criteria

If your incoming inspection follows a specific standard, tell us before the machine is built — acceptance criteria written into the order are far easier to satisfy than criteria discovered at the factory acceptance test. Review our ultra-high-precision flat-plate platform, our AOI inspection system, or contact our engineering team directly.
